It'll take me another 8 weeks to finish reading the Umineko VN

Huge + points to actually saying the titles in Japanese.

I managed to get through 5 episodes of Watamote but couldn’t bring myself to watch anymore of it.

I really started to dislike the golden witch anime by the end. Can’t remember exactly why, (SPOILER) I think I was just disappointed at it becoming this stupid magical murder fest when I was expecting them to start solving the murder mystery thing. (SPOILER)

Welcome to NHK is something that I’m sorta interested in watching but have never been interested enough to actually do it.

      Princess Choo-Choo was the hardest.

If you didn’t like Watamote after 5 episodes, you certainly won’t like it after 12.

I gave the Umineko anime the benefit of the doubt on a number of issues, including the magical murders and the lack of solutions. If everything falls into place with the solution arcs, there shouldn’t be a problem. For the record, the Umineko anime was a lot more faithful to the anime than the bitchy VN originalists would have you believe.

NHK was the same for me. Got around to it after 4 years on the queue.

It’s not that I didn’t like Watamote. I think it’s a great show. It’s just difficult for me to keep going with it.

I watched the Umineko anime until the end, otherwise I wouldn’t be so annoyed at it.

“Never heard a single bad review of it”

I thought it was just your eyesight going, not your memory

The backlog of the US PTO… My god, my brother would laugh his ass off at that one. It took me a second to put two and two together and realize your eyes are probably in such terrible shape because of all the patent applications you have to do with minimal amounts of time you can bill. (Assuming you don’t do litigation that is.)

Anyway, I enjoyed NHK quite a bit when I first watched it. Princess Tutu was highly recommended to me, but I haven’t gotten around to watching it. Since you were fairly positive about the show, I’ll rethink it. As far as Watamote goes, I really enjoyed the show in a cringe-worthy sort of way.

I didn’t realize you played any VN’s. I’m curious as to whether I should go through Umineko. I’m not really a VN person myself but there are some stories you can’t really get any other way.

    • Baka-Raptor says:

Well, my eyes were screwed up before the patent work; the patents just made them worse. Haven’t done a patent in ages though. These days I’m in traffic court. Shitty pay but practically no reading or writing.

This is only the 2.5th VN I’ve read. I finished Fate/Stay Night a couple of years ago (++). Then I read a bit of Swan Song (+) about two years ago but it crashed on me. Higurashi and Umineko were the only other VNs I had my eyes on, and after Umineko, I doubt I’ll read Higurashi. I’m more than satisfied with the anime. Doubt I’ll be going into other VNs anytime soon. Too much other shit I gotta get to.
