May 2021: The Golden Age

I have a new favorite harem anime, and oddly enough, my opinion has little to do with the female cast. The single greatest achievement of The Quintessential Quintuplets is having a male lead with self-respect. Yes, you’re reading that right.

I brought on my brother, a Real Doctorâ„¢, to talk about the Derek Chauvin trial, #StopAsianHate, and Martial Arts. His internet connection only broke down twice, not bad for a first episode. The next one is scheduled for August.

Several years ago, I promised that after finishing Muv-Luv: Alternative, I’d make a post spoiling everything you need to know to skip Muv-Luv: Extra & Unlimited. I finally got around to it, and in doing so, I poked a beehive of butthurt VN apologists. I don’t know why they want you to suffer, but I heroically stood my ground in the name of truth, justice, and the common good. If you value your own time, dignity, and sanity, skip straight to Muv-Luv: Alternative.

Dr. Stone: Stone Wars wrapped up much quicker than expected. That’s not to say it was bad, just kind of a letdown.

Horimiya is the most average shoujo anime ever, or so I thought until finding out it ran in a shounen magazine, instead making it the most average trans-shoujo anime ever.

This month in Crystalis: Robot Restaurant, Japan’s biggest tourist trap, appears to be the latest casualty of COVID-19. Who said the pandemic was all bad?

Kentaro Miura, the author of Berserk, has recently passed away. In his memory, I fondly recall my own history with Berserk and its curious ties to steak and lesbians.

  1. The first few episodes of Horimiya were fun, partially because of how quickly the main characters got together. Basically the first 3 episodes (or whatever) were equivalent to a 12 or even 24 episode anime.

However, after we got a bunch of side character romances that weren’t that interesting. The manga was exactly the same and I dropped it ages back for the same reason.

    • That would be my Robot Restaurant video. Edited to highlight that it’s this month’s Crystalis video.

  2. Holy shit Baka Raptor, I’ve been saying this for over an year now, the coronavirus with work from home to almost everyone has made everyone’s life a bliss, talk about watching ton of anime series and having enough time and joy to do stuff I’d never did before.

Talk about cutting the crap out of work and only engaging people in a proffisional way, talk about doing meetings in your underware, talk about waking up one minute before your shift starts, talk about sleeping in the middle of the afternoon and giving a crappy excuse the other day that the power grid or the internet has been down at home.

I even managed to move to a tropical beach paradise and never see tall buildings again

Holy shit Baka Raptor, 2020 and 2021 are the best years of my entire life, earning more, working less, enjoying life with true quality of life, that was unheard of before the pandemic !

I even managed to enjoying watching Naruto once again, I discovered fan projects like Naruto Kai, One Pace and Even Berserk Redux which are fillerless adapatations made by fans cutting all the bullshit, stalling et cetera making them watchable and enjoyable experiences

High Regards from one of your oldest 300 fans

    • Glad to hear you’re kicking life’s ass!

Right now I’m really busy between work, updating (hopefully) once a week, and preparing for the Tokyo Olympics, so fillerlessness is of the utmost importance. I may have to check out some of these fan projects.
